About:

Ben O’Glasser is a hobbyist woodworker who creates functional art from his garage workshop. His boards, mezuzahs, and other products are crafted from domestic and exotic hardwoods with keen attention to color patterns and the natural wood grains. They are then finished with a durable and renewable food safe hard wax oil.

His process begins at the sawmill, hand selecting each board for its color and grain pattern.  In the workshop, he blends various woods together—with a focus on walnut or maple—to highlight the natural beauty of the wood. Ben sources his walnut lumber from a local supplies including Goby Walnut, which primarily harvests dead and dying trees and replants five seedlings for every tree that it harvests.  This ecologically sound approach is consistent with the Jewish tradition that encourages sustainable use of resources.

Each piece is unique. Many of the boards are decorated with Hebrew inscriptions and make a stunning addition to a Shabbat or festival table, embracing the Jewish principle of hiddur mitzvah (“beautifying the mitzvah”)
